Medicina de los ríos (single)

Marijn: “Every year I return to the banks of 'the Boiling River'. We have extensively documented this beautiful river in the digital CD album  ’Shanay Timpishka’, ', where its beautiful sounds of nature were recorded. In 2023 I did a diet with Chuchuhuasi on her banks.  After meditating and resting in the hot vapors for 6 hours every morning for three weeks, while drinking a few liters of boiling water straight from the river, I received this icaro from the river and spirit of the Chuchuhuasi; 'Medicine de los Rios'. The plant medicine and the river slowly brought me to my most vulnerable parts and taught me about my ’own unique vibration’ or how I naturally resonate.  They taught me to embrace my gentle nature and start singing from there.  The following days I sang completely differently in the ceremonies and I completely regained my own spirit.  This icaro is, in my experience, sung by the fusion of two spirits: 'the Boiling River and the ChuChuhuasi.  Every time I sing this song I feel their gentle power.  The song gives me the courage to continue to embrace my own light and allow vulnerability.  The song sings about the Boiling River, and its underwater creatures, the spirits of the Yacuruna.  The text of this icaro cannot be translated completely literally.  The translation below only points into a direction. For example, the word 'cantaremo(s)' here points to much more.  The vibration of this word invites us to sing together.  But at the same time it invites us to row on the great river of musical vibrations.  A journey we make together. The tones and notes become vibrating waves that carry us along with the current like a river. Cantaremos' therefore refers more to 'singing together', while 'canta remo' is more about singing as a metaphor for 'rowing' on the musical river.”
